You cheeky winker! Legends Pele and Ronaldo try to upstage one another in new World Cup advert for airline Emirates

They're both masters of the beautiful game in their own age, adored by millions all over the world for their skill, artistry and phenomenal goal records.

And there are surely plenty of football fans who would have loved to see Brazil's Pele and Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo line up in the same team.

That, sadly, will never happen but airline Emirates have provided the next best thing by getting the two legends together on the same plane for their latest television advert.

Real Madrid superstar Ronaldo is flicking through the pages of a magazine in the A380 onboard lounge and is delighted when two passengers start fawning over him.

But his mood darkens when the duo start talking about three World Cup triumphs, something Ronaldo has most certainly never accomplished.

It's then Ronaldo realises that Pele, smiling broadly and chuckling deeply, is stood beside him.

Whoops: But the man the passengers are talking about is actually three-time World Cup winner Pele

However, he has the last laugh when another passenger bounds through and asks for a photograph, brazenly handing his phone to Pele to do the honours.

The Brazilian hero obliges and Ronaldo responds with that cheeky wink we all know so well from the 2006 World Cup.

The new Emirates advert will air in the run-up to the World Cup finals in Brazil, since the carrier serves Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.

Pele, who won the World Cup with Brazil in 1958, 1962 and 1970, will play a prominent ambassadorial role as his home country hosts the tournament in June and July.

Ronaldo, the Ballon d'Or holder, will be carrying Portugal's hopes having scored all four of his teams goals in a play-off win over Sweden.
